Make Art With Your Life
Wednesday, July 3, 2024
I hope this Art & Wellness Wednesday issue finds you well. For those of you who are Canadian, I trust you had a great long weekend. For my American friends, have a great Fourth of July!
Last week, I worked on the painting in the video below. I thought it was finished, but the more I sat with it, the more I felt she needed minor tweaks. I took it outside to look in the natural light and then let it hang out in my living room for a few days.
On Sunday, I had to remind myself to stop aiming for perfection (what is perfection anyway?) and stop being so self-critical. I reminded myself that the process of making art is just as important, if not more so, than the finished piece. This is also what I teach students in my workshops, but sometimes, I even need a reminder.
I think she’s beautiful, but like most of us, if we nitpick long enough, we’ll always find something wrong, so I’m letting her be just as she is.
The process of making art is a beautiful reminder of how to live life - in the present moment, it’s more joyful when we let go of perfection and self-criticism, and if we are willing to witness it, there is beauty in all of it.
I See You
24 x 24” on gallery-wrapped canvas. - $950
The first title that came to me (my painting titles are very intuitive) was Do You See Me? Shortly afterwards, while painting, I heard my intuitive voice say, “It’s I See You because we all must be willing to see ourselves with love and acceptance before anyone else can.”
How About Some Soul Therapy?
Recently, I experienced something I didn’t realize I needed, and I want to share this beautiful gem of a human and her gifts with you!
Michelle Rodgers
Michelle offers healing through mediumship, guidance from the Akashic Records and Reiki therapy.
After meeting her at a retreat where I taught an art workshop, I recently booked a reading with Michelle. We hadn't connected much at the retreat as we were both there to work, but we followed each other on Instagram. I saw her Instagram story one day where she was sharing about her readings, and I immediately booked an appointment with her.
Despite not having had a reading in years, I felt compelled to do so. Michelle provided a mediumship reading and a mini Akashic Records reading, delivering beautiful messages and insights that resonated deeply with me, particularly on grief and healing.
Michelle is a gifted and compassionate Soul. If you're seeking connection with Spirit or healing, I highly recommend her services.
It’s a New Moon In Cancer on Friday, July 5th
The new moon phase is a beautiful time for a fresh start or a new beginning.
A great way to take advantage of the magic of a new moon is to put pen to paper and get creative. Allow yourself to write, doodle, draw, add some collage, and create meaningful words, symbols, and images for yourself and your intentions. You can invest in some coloured pens or pencils, grab scraps of paper and make this a monthly ritual just for you.
I hope you enjoy this short email and that it inspires you! I'm excited to share more with you in the coming weeks and months. As always, I'm so grateful for your support and the opportunity to serve you in the inbox.
With appreciation—
PS. Did you know that I have a monthly draw for an embellished print? Because you're receiving this email, you're automatically entered. The draw takes place on the 15th of every month.
